Social Enterprise Program

Social Enterprise Program

PowerNet of Dayton's signature Social Enterprise work program offers participants immediate training and paid employment once they have reached phased three of our GEM Leadership program. This three tiered phased program follows the pre-employment training and prepares participants with skills and experience essential to gain permanent employment.

Participants work on one of PowerNet of Dayton's worksites throughout the City of Dayton, in crews of 5-9  PowerNet of Dayton participants with a PowerNet of Dayton-employed supervisor. The crews provide minor repair, maintenance, grounds keeping and janitorial work.

Through the Social Enterprise work program, participants experience-sometimes for the first time in their lives-what it means to:

• get to work on time
• take direction from a supervisor
• be an appreciated co-worker
• work steadily throughout the workday
• express themselves to their supervisor and co-workers effectively and respectfully.

Through such experiential learning, participants begin to change their workplace behavior and become prepared for the private workforce. PowerNet of Dayton's participants remain enrolled in our program until they are eligible and able to be placed in full time work.
